Having lost all your lives on the tunnel stage, wait for the 'rewind the tape' message to appear and hold down RUN (STOP and tap the RESTORE key). You should start the tunnel section again, but this time when you lose your first life the 'press fire to load the next section' message will appear and the fifth stage (The Jungle) will load instead.
