press the left mouse-button to turn the music off, then either press F1 or click on the F1 button using the mouse

press F1, F2 and F3 on the title screen for infinite lives. Once he starts following you, go to the monkey head and pull the nose of the totem pole to the left of the gate. Walk away from the pole and wait for the monkey to start swinging on the nose. The gate will now stay open.
