When the guard flips his lid and sends an array of punches towards you, don't panic. Keep your guard up and watch carefully for when he does a body blow. Block his attempt by moving down and then give a counter body blow. You should be able to deliver a couple more blows to the face before he flips his lid again. Using this you should beat him with half your life left.
